As told by Ruth Wilkins Brown: Mary died in 1903 from burns incured from falling into an open outdoor fire while popping popcorn. She had a history of epileptic seizures, and she suffered one while making the popcorn.
Settlement of Mary L. Wilkins' estate by Sinclair Robinson Wilkins, April 5, 1902. Mary was epileptic; this document provided for her care by her father, by obtaining the rights to her estate from her deceased mother. Mary died on 13 Feb 1903 from burns she incurred after falling into an open outdoor fire while making popcorn. She had apparently had a seizure while making the popcorn.
