A Family Tribute and Scrapbook This site is an online resource for the ancestry of Bruce Eugene Shirey and Gloria Julene Hughey, and Dr. LeRoy Cecil Mims and Nancy Grace Blackistone. Henry T. Slinkard's family moved to Franklin County, Illinois in 1840. From there they moved to Randolph County, Arkansas in 1844. Henry T. Slinkard first came to McDonald County, Missouri in 1851, but moved to Linn County, Kansas in 1862. He returned to White Rock, McDonald, Missouri to live in 1878. He served in the Civil War for three years. He served with the Second Kansas Volunteers, was in the battles of Cane Hill, Prairie Grove, Hone Springs, Devil's Backbone, Dardanelles, Poison Springs, and others. He was in the mercantile business at Caverna, McDonald, Missouri from 1880 to 1885 when he sold out and moved his business to Sulphur Springs, Jefferson, Missouri and went into business with a $2,00 stock of goods.
