The following obituary was printed in the "Jetton Book":
Sister Mary Ann Jetton, daughter of John and Jane Boyd, was born August 6, 1836 in Calloway County, Kentucky. She was happily married to Lewis U. Jetton in 1853, was converted in 1854, and fell on sleep November 26, 1880. Another pure spirit has passed from its earth-house to find a habitation not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. She had long been a devoted member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, and her character, fraught with gentle virtue and holy piety, made her absence all the more felt by her husband and children. Said her brother-in-law to me, "She is a woman whose character we should not lose sight of." When the end was near she was calm and composed, death had no terrors for her, for she had conquered through Him who first loved us. She said to her agonizing husband, "I am prepared to go, do not grieve for me." And so her body was laid away, but the precious example of her life still lives in the memory of those left behind, who are traveling along the same road. Reader, when your eyes fall upon those lives, may you be inspired to worthily secure a like memoriam, and with us say, "Let us die the death of the righteous, and may our last end be like hers." W.H. Evans, pastor and author, taken from the Christian Advocate, Vol. 41, No. 4, Nashville, Tennessee, Jan. 29, 1881.
